Nishi Mitra vom Berg

Professor Nishi Mitra vom Berg is Chairperson of the Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies and the Women and Gender Development Cell at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, India. An anthropologist and professor at the Centre for Study of Developing Societies, she engages in cross-cultural feminist research across India, the US, UK, Sweden, Canada, Brazil, and more. Her work spans gender-based violence, women in academia, child marriage, and femicide. She led India’s first Master’s in Women’s Studies and currently researches gender and housing, education for social change, and decolonising curricula. Nishi advocates for social inclusion and women's leadership through interdisciplinary, globally informed scholarship.
